The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences

Ph.D. Admission Requirements and Application Deadline

All applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Your application will be individually evaluated but a previous commitment to feminist scholarship must be demonstrated. A writing sample, a statement of purpose in pursuing the Ph.D., transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate work undertaken, official copies of the GRE General Test scores, and three letters of recommendation from faculty members familiar with your academic work must be supplied before your application can be considered. International students are expected to send a current TOEFL score. Your statement of purpose should contain information about how you see yourself in the world, why you want to pursue graduate study in general and in women's studies in particular. We will be using this and the sample of academic writing you send us to evaluate your ability to present your views forcefully and gracefully as well as your ability to analyze, critique, and interpret. The application deadline for the Fall 2007 session is January 15, 2007. Application check list is below.
