Financial Aid

The department strives to offer financial support to its graduate students. Research assistantships and teaching assistantships also are available through other departments. Students who hold assistantships of one-quarter-time or more pay in-state tuition rates.

Presidential Fellowships and Graduate Merit Fellowships are offered by the Graduate College to top applicants across the University. Upon student application, the department nominates students for these awards on the basis of their promise for academic excellence, their GRE scores, GPA and their letters of recommendation. The Presidential & Graduate Merit Fellowships offer free tuition and a substantial monthly living allowance. During two of the four years covered, the Fellows will be expected to teach or serve as research assistants within the Program.
