Sharon Lee

 

Sharon Lee is currently a doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at The University of Iowa. She received her Master's degree in counseling psychology from the University of Missouri - Columbia. She also received her B.S. in psychology and a B.A. in advertising from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Sharon received her clinical training at various agencies over the past 6 years from a nationally recognized career center, top tier college counseling training centers, and VA. Prior to starting her doctorate, Sharon was the director of a career service working specifically with International Students and immigrants in their unique career concerns.

Sharon's approach to therapy emphasizes a collaborative, supportive and safe environment where each individual can work on their on-going concerns. Sharon's approach is to create a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can freely explore the current challenges they face and examine their core values and beliefs and how it fits in with their goals and their environment. Sharon emphasizes in her work an exploration of each individuals unique strengths and ability to become more skillful in growing their coping skills with their presenting concerns and maintaining their gains in therapy.

Sharon is open to working with a wide variety of clients and concerns. Her particular clinical interests include anxiety, family concerns, transition issues, career/work counseling, career assessments, cultural/identity issues, trauma-related concerns, and depression.
