The UNIVERSITY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP
Visit their website at: www.uiowa.edu/~uwc
As a part of our commitment to the University of Iowa and our community, The University Club has been very proud to have been able to fund scholarships for qualified University of Iowa female students. These scholarships were funded from the interest on an invested fund from our reserves and over the years we have been able to provide scholarship support for two students per year. In 2000, with the decline in the economy and declining interest rates, the Board examined options to ensure that the club could continue our tradition of providing scholarships in perpetuity.
It was decided to create an endowment at the University of Iowa Foundation. With donations from excess funds at that time in the club's budget and with the generous support from our members, the fund ($30,000 minimum) has been fully endowed during the last few years. We are now able to provide two scholarships each year to deserving women. These students are generally 4.0, female students of junior standing and who have graduated from an Iowa high school. The scholarship office rotates the scholarships among different departments.
