Regular weekly tutoring (enrollment program)

Students who enroll reserve a regular weekly appointment time to work one on one with a tutor. Our tutors will help you talk through, organize and express your ideas, on paper and in multimodal projects. We teach strategies to tackle any writing or composition challenge. Students can bring any kind of writing project or assignment and can get help at all stages of the writing process, from brainstorming to final polishing. Your tutor will not just edit or proofread your paper; you'll learn skills that you'll take with you when you leave.

Enrollment tutoring is a very popular program and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. To sign up, visit the Writing Center (room 110 EPB) on the first day of classes each semester.

Information for enrolled students

Thank you for enrolling for the semester in the Writing Center!  Enrolling means that you have a standing appointment at the same time each week to meet with the same tutor.  Your tutor expects you to attend your appointment whether or not you are working on assigned writing at the time.  When you don’t have writing to bring, you and your tutor will still be able to work on ideas for asssignments, research strategies, and particular writing skills.  Please plan to attend all of your enrollment appointments!  If you find that you are not able to keep this obligation, please cancel your enrollment to make your spot available to another student on our long waiting list.

We have the following attendance policies.

  • If you need to miss an enrollment appointment, you MUST e-mail the writing center at:
  • If you have more than three missed appointments during the semester, we will ask you to drop your enrollment in order that we may offer a slot to a student from our long waiting list.
