ZTA Symbols

The main symbol of ZTA is the 5-pointed crown

In the late 1800s, an admirer of one of ZTA's founders sent a gift of strawberries. This prompted the nine founders to host their first social gathering and to become officially recognized on campus.

The flower of ZTA is the white violet.

Themis, the Greek goddess of justice and order, is the patron goddess of Zeta Tau Alpha.

A gold link inscribed "Alpha" begins the chain representing Zeta Tau Alpha's 237 chartered chapters. The Alpha Omicron chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha at the University of Iowa is the 40th link in the chain.

The ZTA Crest has a design enveloped with beauty, courage, and high ideals. The symbolism of the coat of arms is hidden in the hearts and minds of all ZTA's. The coat of arms was picked in 1926.
